Ernest WithersCivil rights photographer Ernest Withers. Withers was a self employed photographer in Selma, Alabama. He documented the civil rights movement from the 1950’s through the 1960’s. He also produced a book on the Emmett till murder that became a motivating influence for the push towards equal rights. In December of 1956, Ernest Withers rode the freedom bus with Martin Luther King Jr, and Reverend Ralph Abernathy in Montgomery Alabama.
