Founded in 1925, the National Bar Association is the oldest and largest bar association for African-American lawyers and jurists. With 84 chapters worldwide, the National Bar Association represents a professional network of more than 20,000 attorneys, judges, educators and law students.
The National Bar Association has an illustrative history of filing amicus briefs in support of civil rights, championing the pro bono legal movement, providing legal assistance to needy individuals, and supporting equal opportunity and voting rights. The National Bar Association also sponsors college scholarships and legal camps to introduce high school students to the legal profession, and provides law school officials with an assessment of recruitment, retention, and placement of minority law students.
Dinner with Barack: Two Teachers, an Army Veteran, a Small Business
Owner, and The President
Four Obama 2012 supporters had the chance to sit down for dinner with President Obama:
Juanita from Colorado, Ken from Arizona, Casey from Minnesota and Wendi from Indiana. They all
brought their stories and ideas for this campaign and our country. Juanita, a retired public
school teacher, shared her concerns on public education. The President shared what a typical
day in the White House looks like for him, how he does Halloween with his family, and how his
father impacted him.
