
Judge Theodore A. McKee, was sworn in as a Judge of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit on June 20, 1994. He is only the fourth African-American to serve on the 3d Circuit bench. Judge McKee graduated Magna Cum Laude from Syracuse University College of Law in 1975. He received several awards for outstanding academic performance in law school including being inducted into the Order of the Coif.
A native of Rochester, New York, the judge graduated from the State University of New York at Cortland and served as director of minority recruitment, and chair of a newly-created Afro-American studies program at the State University of New York at Binghamton following completion of undergraduate school. Judge McKee enjoys time with his family (including their German Shepard, "Chipper"), reading, listening to jazz and classical music, woodworking, and continuing his 30 years of training in the martial arts.
