
On October 21, 1977, Judge Damon J. Keith was appointed to the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit. He was appointed by President Carter. Judge Keith assumed senior status on May 1, 1995. Damon J. Keith was born in Detroit, Michigan, and has served as a United States Court of Appeals Judge for the Sixth Circuit since 1977. Prior to his appointment to the Court of Appeals, Judge Keith served on the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan for ten years. Judge Keith was Chief Judge of the District Court from December 14, 1975 until he was elevated to the Court of Appeals in November 1977.
