
Cleve L. Killingsworth, Jr. became President and Chief Executive Officer of Health Alliance Plan in January 1998. He also served as Executive Vice President of Insurance and Managed Care for the Henry Ford Health System until joining the Blue Cross-Blue Shield Plan in Massachusetts late last year. Killingsworth has devoted his career to health care management, previously serving as President of three separate regional divisions for Kaiser Permanente (Central East, Mid-Atlantic States, Ohio regions) as well as Senior Vice President of Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Rochester, New York. Killingsworth previously held senior management positions with Group Health Cooperative of Puget Sound and the American Hospital Association.
His career also includes teaching at both the University of Rochester Medical Center and Wharton School of Business. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and his master of public health degree from Yale University. As the leader of HAP, Killingsworth was deeply committed to providing real value to members by fostering patient-centered relationships between health care delivery systems, practitioners and health plans to improve quality using evidence-based medicine.
