
Candance Swanigan, a senior, is a top science student with an inquisitive nature. She holds a 4.83 weighted grade point average and scored a 31 on the ACT. Candance has an analytical mind and the skills to ask and answer complex questions. She is currently taking AP Chemistry.
She has taken many Honors level courses and has completed three years of Honors French, Advanced Placement U.S. History, AP Psychology, and Honors Chemistry. She won the Memphis City Schools William H. Sweet Award for Academic Excellence. She currently ranks 9th in a class of 425 students.
She is a member of the National Honor Society and Mu Alpha Theta, the math honor society. Her passion for learning makes her a great problem solver. She has been a member of the marching band and the school newspaper. She has served on the Student Council. She is currently working with the council to create and distribute pink ribbons for breast cancer awareness.
She has been active in the French Club for four years and is vice president this year. She has also been an important part of the school's Knowledge Bowl Team. She is currently the team's secretary. Candance is a level-headed student leader. She is sought out as a tutor by other students. She is active in Kids Promoting Animal Welfare, a program sponsored by the Youth Humane Society. She also has been an active member in the Youth Empowerment Program for her church.
