Brittany Parker

Brittany Monet Parker of Bueche is an outstanding student and athlete at St. Joseph's Academy in Baton Rouge. Recently named Junior Miss YMCA at the State YMCA Scholastic Pageant, she helps care for her mentally handicapped brother and volunteers for activities for mentally handicapped adults and senior citizens.

When her mother developed meningitis, she ran their household and took care of her brother. She was awarded the Young Heroes Award by the Louisiana Public Broadcasting Company. The Young Heroes Awards honor outstanding students in grades 4-12 who have served their community, overcome adversity or inspired others through their deeds and strength of character.

Dinner with Barack: Two Teachers, an Army Veteran, a Small Business Owner, and The President

Four Obama 2012 supporters had the chance to sit down for dinner with President Obama: Juanita from Colorado, Ken from Arizona, Casey from Minnesota and Wendi from Indiana. They all brought their stories and ideas for this campaign and our country. Juanita, a retired public school teacher, shared her concerns on public education. The President shared what a typical day in the White House looks like for him, how he does Halloween with his family, and how his father impacted him.
