
AhDream Smith, a senior, is a highly motivated student, who has excelled in the school's college preparatory program. She holds a 4.81 weighted grade point average. Foreign language is one of her favorite areas of study. She is currently taking Advanced Placement Spanish and is president of the National Spanish Honor Society. She takes the time to learn proper pronunciations and to learn about and appreciate Hispanic culture.
She is ranked in the Top Five of her class. In addition, she has been inducted into the Mu Alpha Theta, the math honor society, and the National Honor Society. She received the Memphis City School's William H. Sweet Award for Academic Excellence every year since seventh grade. Last year she received an award for being an Outstanding Spanish III student. She was selected to attend a summer prep school at Choate Rosemary Hall and was the recipient of the prestigious Citizenship Award from the faculty there.
AhDream is the newly elected president of the Tennessee Association of Student Councils and served as the organization's vice president last year. She has high expectations for herself and constantly encourages others to strive for academic success. She has a talent for making other students feel important. She has been a member of the Student Council Executive Board each year and currently serves as the Leadership Training Coordinator. Last year she headed up a state service project that raised more than $18,000 for the Make-a-Wish Foundation.
She has participated in the Making Strides against Breast Cancer Walk for three years and worked preparing meals for the homeless at St. John's United Methodist Church. AhDream is an active member of Bridge Builders project, The Race to Erase Racism. She has also volunteered with MIFA and the Sickle Cell Foundation.
