The mission of the African American Family Life Education Institute is to teach African American families knowledge and skills essential to gaining greater control over their own lives. A core issue in empowering and uplifting African American families from poverty is teaching them the knowledge and skills necessary to create stable, committed, functional, and satisfying families.

These are also key principles in preventing other working and middle class families from slipping into poverty. Committed couples produce committed families and committed families are the backbone of a productive society.

Dinner with Barack: Two Teachers, an Army Veteran, a Small Business Owner, and The President

Four Obama 2012 supporters had the chance to sit down for dinner with President Obama: Juanita from Colorado, Ken from Arizona, Casey from Minnesota and Wendi from Indiana. They all brought their stories and ideas for this campaign and our country. Juanita, a retired public school teacher, shared her concerns on public education. The President shared what a typical day in the White House looks like for him, how he does Halloween with his family, and how his father impacted him.
